Love the World

House building in Mexico

I've been fortunate enough in life to have time and talent to contribute to things bigger than myself. One of the ways in which I love to bless those around me is through pure physical labor -- there's something so human about dropping pretense and picking up a hammer.

I occasionally participate in house-building projects in Mexico with my church. We partner with local organizations who already have relationships with the locals, and select needy families off of long waiting lists to receive a new home. The standard living conditions for the people in the neighborhoods where we build typically consists of shacks cobbled together from discarded scrap wood, and even old garage doors shipped down from the United States. To get a real house built on a concrete slab is a blessing beyond belief.
